Cyprus offers a competitive cash rebate and tax incentive scheme for film, television, and audiovisual productions. This scheme, supported by the Cyprus Film Commission and Invest Cyprus, aims to promote the country as a filming destination while encouraging local investment in the creative sector.
Eligible productions may receive a cash rebate of:
- 25% on qualifying Above the Line (ATL) expenses (e.g. director, producer, cast)
- 45% on qualifying Below the Line (BTL) expenses (e.g. crew, equipment rental, local services)
The final rebate is subject to audit and approval by the Evaluation Committee.
Productions may alternatively opt for a tax credit equal to the eligible expenditure incurred in Cyprus, which can be used against the taxable income of the production company.
Investments in audiovisual infrastructure or technical equipment may qualify for increased tax deductions when incurred for the purposes of audiovisual production in Cyprus.
To qualify for the scheme, productions must meet cultural and technical criteria, as assessed by the Cyprus Film Scheme Evaluation Committee. Eligible formats include feature films, television series, documentaries, animations, and more. Pre-approval is required before filming begins.
